Your chance to have your say about the AAL’s impact to date as well as in its future strategy for active and healthy ageing in Europe!
The European Commission is currently considering how to meet the challenges of our ageing population as well as make the most of its many opportunities. It is likely that a new partnership programme will emerge from these deliberations that both funds research as well as helps stimulate innovation in digital markets such as those in health and social care, the Internet of Things and home care and assistance – all in the context of ageing well.
It is also likely that this new partnership will pool together some of the European initiatives that currently address active and healthy ageing into a single, focused organisation to support the medical advances that help to extend the length of people’s lives with digital solutions that improve their quality of life.
AAL wants to be at the heart of such a programme and has been working over the last year to develop a proposal for a new partnership involving all stakeholders involved in active and healthy ageing – and it now wants your ideas through a new online consultation survey.
Through this online consultation, AAL is looking to influence the shape of any new EC-funded programme by making sure it builds on its past experience and achievements. Lessons have been learned about getting innovations to market, while the AAL’s vibrant transnational network of different stakeholders has already been created.
The core value of the AAL’s first proposal for how the EC may formulate its new strategy to meet the challenges of an ageing population, while also making the most of the opportunities this brings us is simple: help people to age well. It will be centred around the idea of ecosystems – interconnected collaborations through which technological and social innovations, as well as the experiences of using and developing them, can be quickly shared. The idea is to help organisations and innovators in a flexible way in the areas where they need support.
AAL is now calling on all those involved in active and healthy ageing to provide input and help shape the new EC programme on ageing well, in particular feedback from social and health care professionals, national and local authorities and businesses in the silver economy.
The survey is now available which aims to seek opinion on the AAL’s achievements and lessons learned, the state of active and healthy ageing market today and how we should approach the challenges we face in the future. The AAL has also produced a short outline of its proposed new partnership programme called Ageing Well in a Digital Society and is asking for comments on that, too.
