helascol project at ICT conference
The International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for AgeingWell and e-Health (ICT4AgeingWell 2015 – http://www.ict4ageingwell.org/) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in May 2015. ICT4AgeingWell aims to be a meeting point for those that study and apply information and communication technologies for improving the quality of life of the elderly and for helping people stay healthy, independent and active at work or in their community along their whole life.
IncreaseTime (http://www.itime.pt) will attend ICT4AgeingWell 2015 to disseminate the project HELASCoL (http://helascol.eu), funded under the AAL Joint Programme, and will present a paper entitled “Continuous Monitoring and Digital Systems for elders” with results from the project. This paper describe the technological approach to promote elders inclusion developed in HELASCoL, which is capable of being used in multiple devices (including SmartTVs) and integrating information collected with wearable devices and wireless sensor networks. The results demonstrate how recent technological developments generate a favorable environment for the inclusion of the elders in the digital society and, as a consequence, for a paradigm shift in the way care and healthcare is provided.
