Read more

The development of eSticky Notes is being user-driven right from the beginning.  This allows to reduce the risk of possible mistakes during designing, testing and implementing the system. The project activities have picked-up from the analysis of elderly’s and carers’/family’s needs, to define the principal platform specs. In a full and multi cycle user centred design approach (UCD), end-users will constantly monitor, discuss, evaluate and provide feedback to positively impact on system’s development, to guarantee the proper implementation, integration and optimisation of the platform. Technically, eSticky is being developed as an integrated system with a home server connected to one or more low power e-paper displays. All of them can be easily configured using a mobile app/web. During the final evaluation of the system, a total of 40 older adults will be involved to test it. End-users will also be crucial in validating the customer appreciation and acceptability, as well as a sustainable and effective business plan.

Expected results and Impact:

As a solution, eSticky displays will help people with dementia or similar conditions, supporting their abilities to self-manage themselves and live independently. The product idea is a solution easy to use, designed to relieve family/caregiver burden. Furthermore, even though it is a fully integrated system, it can be offered at a very affordable price. The use of many components already available will shorten the development time. The key factors towards a commercial development (including the lack of similar solutions) will be investigated, as far as an effective communication strategy for stakeholders and customers.

Read more

Objectives:

The global healthcare system is under immense pressure and the rising aging population adds to it. To minimise this added burden, a system needs to be in place that enables doctors to speed up their processes whilst enabling elderly individuals to stay healthy for longer. The prime objective of the ChroNoct project is to develop and cocreate an end-end platform to monitor nocturnal vital signs remotely by using Sleepiz’ radar-based contactless technology and advanced machine learning algorithms for the diagnosis, management and prediction of chronic respiratory disorders amongst the elderly population.

Expected results & Impact:

The ChroNoct system would enable physicians and home care providers to provide a completely contactless and remote monitoring device that sits on the elderly individual’s bed side table to capture vital health parameters (breathing rate, heart rate and body motion) during their sleep to predict, manage and diagnose chronic respiratory diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease (COPD); including exacerbation (worsening) of the disease. Following the project, the expected time to market is 18 months, and the initial markets targeted will be the partner’s nation and countries within the geographic vicinity.

Read more

Objectives:

As our mobility and energy levels diminish when we get older, we start missing out on social contacts. It is proven that only 6% of a person’s health is determined by traditional medical care while the rest by the surrounding environment and mental state. The aim of the Solaria project is to build a platform that connects the television in the seniors’ homes to an app on the smartphone of a family member, taking away the digital stress that other solutions in the market create and allowing daily contacts with family and friends. In addition, thanks to Solaria, regular personal advice and assistance from caregivers becomes possible via the television.

Expected results & Impact:

The Solaria project expects to produce the following 10 main results:

1) high acceptance and satisfaction rate (>75% of users);

2) decrease in social isolation for seniors (>75%);

3) increase in feeling happy and less stressed by seniors (>90%);

4) trust in data privacy by seniors and caregivers (>75%);

5) confidence in the system running correctly (>75%);

6) time management optimisation for formal and informal caregivers;

7) integration into existing infrastructures (>95%);

8) cost optimisation for end-user organisations (>75%);

9)improvement of end-user services (>75%);

10) improvement of work environments (>75%).

Read more

Objectives:

It is notoriously difficult to build and maintain a culture around correct hand hygiene. This project will test the idea of combining a mundane but daily used product such as an automatic soap and gel dispenser with social interaction and stimulation. The final solution will improve the level of correct hand hygiene of elderly and their caregivers and at the same time both reduce the feeling of loneliness and social exclusion and increase the sense of purpose and usefulness. Additionally, the solution will also be able to generate on-site data on the use and effectiveness of the solution.

Expected results & Impact:

The project will validate the concept by tests in Denmark and Taiwan. There might be significant different cultural ways to engage users in the two countries and they will be taken into account. The use of the deployed devices will be measured and feedback from all types of stakeholders and end-users will be collected and evaluated. It is estimated that the product can reach market 18-24 month after the first validation of the prototypes. Substantial time will be spent on getting the social aspect of the system right as this will create “stickiness” with respect to the use of the system and create user-satisfaction.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the next 30 years, the world’s population aged 60+ years is projected to double from 1 billion in 2020 to nearly 2.1 billion in 2050. Taking this ...

Read more

Objectives:

With ISHA we create an innovative eco-system, which would allow elderly patients to carry out monitoring, storing and sharing their health data in a safe and convenient format in real time. We envision that the healthcare professionals will be able to appoint the use of the platform in order to be able to assess their patients’ intrinsic capacity and physical reserves. ISHA platform benefits from the ability to be used over time and remotely, which results in healthcare professionals making more informed decisions regarding treatment, monitoring and other personalised care.

Expected results & Impact:

ISHA’s primary goal is to provide a platform that will enable policy makers, HCP’s and other high-level decision-making bodies to monitor and respond appropriately to intrinsic capacity and functional ability changes in the population as they age. Being aware of these domains’ status allows the national and international policy makers to take a preventative action at the right time and foresee the red flags arising. In addition, health and social care delivery systems will benefit from improved quality of care, cost efficiency in service delivery. In addition, the anonymised data gathered from the patients will directly contribute to the research and better understanding of the elderly needs in the society. First iteration of functional platform will be delivered and then consequently improved until a validated system will be reached in 2024 December. We expect to have a fully functional and validated ISHA platform by the end of the project – in 2024 December.

Read more

Objectives:

It is common among seniors to fear social isolation, inability to be a useful and productive member of society and eventually being forgotten. The CREATE project will develop a platform, accessible through a web application, that will allow senior citizens above 60 years old to transform their life experience, knowledge and stories into market desired digital products. The platform will be offered to research institutes, museums, municipalities, tourist agencies, students, senior associations, seniors’ families, etc. interested in a certain topic or location or historical event looking for an authentic, alternative and unique sources of information away from mainstream media and search engines.

Expected Results and Impact:

CREATE attracts all older adults above 60 years of age as its primary users but it will not be limited only to this age group, younger generations can join the platform and create their own content. Users with low IT skill will be able to use the CREATE platform and will find it user friendly and intuitive. As for secondary users, we focus on people in the academic and research environment, tourists, people interested in social, cultural and historical knowledge. We will also encourage and invite family members and friends of the older adults who have shown interest in being part of the platform so they can help their loved ones to create their content, download it, read it and cherish it. In addition, CREATE will target organizations that may be interested in the content created on the platform, or in becoming a CREATE sponsor and advertise on it. In this sense, CREATE will contact museums, municipalities, cultural centers, tourist and travel related businesses, tourist information in different municipalities, organizations and companies offering services or products for older adults for future collaboration.

Project Overview

We will interview older adults and dietitians to get a good overview of their wishes for functionalities, and their way in which they will use the tool. We have databases ready with amino-acid profiles for almost all food items. Users will enter their dietary intake data, and smart algorithms will spot areas for improvement and calculate alternatives that will improve the nutritional quality of the meals. The end-user will be able to select a preferred alternative from a list of options.

Expected results and impact

  • At the end of the project, we will have a blueprint for the application and a clear vision on which next steps should be taken to reach the market, within 2 years.
  • We will have databases and algorithms in place to automatically calculate ‘missing piece’ alternatives to incomplete vegan meals.
  • We will help to make the protein transition accessible for older adults.
  • We will target individuals who want to eat more plant-based while avoiding nutritional deficiencies.
